Volunteer Project: The YMCA of Honolulu’s Kaimukī-Waiʻalae Branch is proud to participate in Welcoming Week, a national initiative that celebrates inclusivity and strengthens the connections between neighbors, families, and the broader community. For the YMCA, Welcoming Week reflects our mission to ensure that every individual—regardless of background, income, or circumstance—feels a sense of belonging and access to supportive programs that promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Volunteers will support our Welcoming Week efforts through a variety of meaningful, hands-on projects designed to engage families and highlight available community resources.
Opportunities include helping at a community resource fair booth by greeting and guiding guests, supporting youth activity stations, assisting families in navigating local services, assembling and distributing resource packets, and helping capture program interest for YMCA services such as aquatics, childcare, youth enrichment, and financial assistance.
These volunteer roles work together to create a welcoming, accessible, and engaging experience for community members while strengthening connections between families and the services that support their well-being.
