Participate in Community Garden Re-build with New Britain ROOTS!

Project Description:

New Britain ROOTS' mission is to cultivate community connections and equitable access to quality food through empowerment and learning. We have food-focused gardens at all 14 public schools in New Britain, along with other gardens throughout the city. We are currently helping operate the Chapman Street Community garden and have recently received a grant to rebuild it. The rebuild includes constructing 42 garden beds (8' x 4' each), filling the beds with organic soil, installing a shed and a picnic bench, and filling in the paths with mulch. This volunteer project would provide a variety of tasks, including building the boxes (we supply all tools and lumber), wheelbarrowing soil and mulch, pruning the existing plants and trees in the garden, building a pre-fab shed, installing a picnic table, and any other garden tasks that may come up.

Parking Instructions: Street parking is available on both intersecting streets of Chapman and Beldin.
