Participate in New Orchard Planting for New Britain High School with New Britain ROOTS!
Project Description:
New Britain ROOTS' mission is to cultivate community connections and equitable access to quality food through empowerment and learning. We have food-focused gardens at all 14 public schools in New Britain. For this particular project, we will be planting 12 fruit trees at the high school, along with bolstering their pollinator garden with new plantings. The project will involve digging holes for the trees (we will have an electric auger, but shovels will be in use as well), spreading mulch and soil, raking, pruning, and planting trees and pollinator plants.
Parking Instructions: New Britain High School has ample parking in both front and back. For this project we will be working in the back of the school, but parking can happen in the visitor lots and in the back by the garden.
