Teachers Resource Center Initiative

Participate in Teachers Resource Center Initiative volunteer opportunity with Urban Alliance Inc. 

Project Description:

 This volunteer project will focus on supporting students and educators by assembling school bookbags filled with essential school supplies and basic items. Volunteers will work together to sort, organize, and pack backpacks with age-appropriate supplies such as notebooks, folders, pencils, crayons, and other classroom essentials. In addition, volunteers may help include basic items such as socks or similar necessities that help meet the broader, everyday needs of students. 

This project directly supports Urban Alliance’s Teacher Resource Center (TRC), a program designed to come alongside teachers by providing free classroom supplies and resources throughout the school year. The Teacher Resource Center serves educators from schools and early childhood programs across the region, helping reduce the financial burden teachers often carry when purchasing supplies out of pocket. By equipping teachers with the resources they need, the TRC helps create more stable, prepared, and supportive learning environments for students. 

Volunteers will play a vital role in this effort by helping ensure that each bookbag is thoughtfully prepared, complete, and ready for distribution through the Teacher Resource Center. The work is hands-on, collaborative, and meaningful, offering volunteers a tangible way to support students, families, and teachers while contributing to educational equity in our community. 

This project is well-suited for individuals or teams and can be adapted based on the number of volunteers and the specific needs of the day. 

Parking Instructions: 

Volunteers may park on-site at Urban Alliance, where ample parking is available. Upon arrival, please follow the signage to the Distribution Center entrance and enter through the designated door. An Urban Alliance team member will be available to greet volunteers and assist with check-in.
