- Every winter, United Way supported 211 Maine sees an increase in calls related to heating assistance. Many Mainers are struggling as the cost of food, housing, fuel, and other basic necessities have risen dramatically. Thousands of Mainers are faced with choosing between heating their homes and basic needs like food and medicine.
